How do you relax?

Deep breathing, massage, bubble baths ..... The list of ways to relax can go in and on.

The question is what works BEST for you? Of course this question is a very personal one, and one that will be different for everyone.

Alopecia has been linked to stress the doctors tell us and the emotions that Alopecia brings up in us is stressful! So here we are .... We find ourselves in a vicious cycle of stress which then causes more hair loss which then causes more stress!!

I myself am what I like to call a serial stress head. I used to be pretty embarrassed and ashamed to admit this up until just recently when things started happening with my health that led my straight to my doctor. Fatigue, pain, insomnia .... I could go in and on. What I'm beginning to realise is this. Were all different and the truth is that some of us stress out and others couldn't give a rats bum bum! You know the type ..... Those people that were all secretly a little envious of that are so chilled out and layer back that they're more or less horizontal! I have a hubby to be who's like that. He just doesn't stress over the 'little things'. If he gets some bad news he just seems to absorb it, process it and let it go.

Now, if I get some bad news or have a client call me upset and needing to chat here's what happens ....

Bad / emotional news received >>>> absorbs information >>>>> process information >>>>> processes information some more >>>>>> and some more >>>>>>> and some more! >>>>>>> realises it's 3am and is still processing the information received earlier!! >>>>> falls a sleep at 4am and dreams about the bad / emotional news received earlier that day >>>>> gets dragged out if bed by hubby to be at 8.30am so as not to be late for work >>>>>> spends all day pondering and stressing about yesterday's bad / emotional news and planning how she can be super women and change the world and rid it of all pain and suffering >>>>>> has a 'break through' moment (or should that read 'break down!!!) that actually I'm probably not going to be able to change the world in 48 hours so eats chocolate instead and finally releases it and let's it go.

It's an exhausting process let me tell you! And one that is not sustainable (or healthy!) in the long run.

I've had to learn how to calm the brain noise. The chaos. I'm still working on the insomnia (this blog post is being written at 2.29am!)

I find it sooooooo relaxing to do the usual 'relaxy' stuff like bubble baths, listening to music, meditation ...... But what I also LOVE TO DO is to jump in there and get my hands dirty. I love crafting and planning!!

I find it's a fab way to spend some quality time with the kids as well, especially my six year old daughter who is so into Smash books, scrapbooks and Deco patch right now!

My trusty Arc notebook from Staples! I'm a bit of a planner addict and it's turned into a hobby these days and an essential to stay as organised and on track as possible. I love how I can customise this notebook and change around the pages as and when I please ...

I like to remind myself that life is good and stay as positive as possible. I also have a selection of affirmations in my Arc book so that as I flick through the pages i am reminded to ficus and stay positive :)

As well as planning i LOVE to draw and doodle with my daughter. I find this really does relax me! Now, I'm no artist and I don't claim to be so be gentle with me on with regards to my drawing skills!

Another way I like to relax is by scrap booking and smash booking. My kids really enjoy doing with with me so it kills two birds with one stone.

We get to spend some quality time together and I get to relax. It's also a great way to get the kids talking about their day as we look through different pictures and scrap them into our books.

 Wreck This Journal!

This is a BRAND NEW thing for me. I love to write, draw and get all creative but I'm a bit of a perfectionist as well! Many people say that perfectionism is a good thing but i respectively disagree ....... My perfectionism traits drive me CRACKERS!

The thing I like about the Wreck My Journal is that it actually ENCOURAGES you to wreck it! I've coloured in the edges of pages .... scribbled, ripped, torn, distressed, frayed and even wiped my dirty feet on this Journal! And you know what? It's one of my most adored possessions <3

How do you relax and feed your soul? If you're a fellow planner / Smash book / Scrapbook / WMJ addict then I'd love to hear what projects you like to get up to!

Until next time ...

http://www.aspire-hair.co.uk/ourshop/cat_889166-Bandore-Collection.html
CHECK OUT THE NEW BANDORE COLLECTION BY CLICKING HERE!!

You gotta love Follea right!?

Not only have they brought us natures most beautiful hair but now they bring us some gorgeous head wear too!

You can check out my original post detailing the NEW Bandore head wear collection here

If you missed my post in the new Follea Bandore head wear collection then you can find it here

I love a good hat. I also love a good quality hat that I can alter quickly depending in my mood and look for the day. Below you'll find a few looks using just ONE Bandore cap that you can easily and affordable re create at home.

I went out in search of some bargains last week. What I hoped to find was some decent mini maxi scarfs at a good price. Can you guess where I found them??

POUNDLAND!

Seriously, they had a selection of 10 or so different designs so I splashed out and threw all caution tot he wind and purchased three mini maxi scarfs haha!

Basically, by using different patterned scarfs you can create a whole new look with your Bandore cap. All you need is your base colour and then you can mix it up with a selection of scarfs.

Take one Bandore cap and a few patterned mini maxi scarfs

Take two scarfs and tie them together at one end. Next loosely twist the two scarfs together. Tie around your Bandore hat and secure at the nape!

Create a cool 'Boho' look by wrapping two scarfs in different designs around your Bandore. Secure in a knot at the side of the head, just above your ear.

Team a classic cream coloured Bandore hat with a vibrant coloured mini maxi scarf to create a modern and fun look. I simply wrapped and secured this scarf around a Bandore hat.

Use different coloured Bandore caps for a different look and feel ...

And why should it end there!

Experiment with hair clips, bands, bobble and broaches. Get yourself to Primani (Primark) and treat yourself to a few fascinators which I believe are a pound or so each right now. Take them a part and come up with creative ways that you could use them to give your Bandore hat a new look!

5 essential items that every alternative hair wearer should own ...

What's in your essentials kit when it comes to alternative human hair?

I wanted to share with you today my TOP 5 items that I'd recommend every alternative human hair wearer should own.

http://www.aspire-hair.co.uk/ourshop/prod_3211517-Follea-Care-Head-and-Clamp-Set.html

Tangle Tease
Sulphate free shampoo and conditioner
A round brush
Sectioning clips

Tangle Tease Brush

This one really is an essentail for both human hair and synthetic wigs! This fabulous brush keeps the hair smooth and silky without the risk of damaging the hair / fibre and base of your wig. Available from supermarkets and Boots chemist and also from us here at Aspire.

Follea Care Head and Clamp Set

'I can find them cheaper than this!' I hear you cry out!! Well, I'm sure you can, I can too as I'm an extreme bargain hunter. Let me tell you MY experience with cheaper care heads and clamp sets .....

WARNING - EXTREME SARCASM TO FOLLOW (in a fun, no offence kind of way of course ...)

  1. For a mere fraction of the price of the Follea Care head set you can get yourself a fab alternative that is over sized and will stretch out the cap of your wig making it a slippy, slide mess
  2. For a mere fraction of the price of a Follea care head set you can get yourself a set that allows you to attach using the clamp for 5 minutes ..... before it breaks and snaps very possibly cutting your finger whilst you try prising it from your work surface causing damage, a painful finger and one very disgruntled hubby or hubby to be. TRUE STORY. This actually happened to me!
  3. For a mere fraction of the price of a Follea care head set you can get yourself a totally cool set that your kiddo or yourself (If you're clumsy like me) will accidentally drop and BREAK.
OK so I'm being a little sarcastic (I did ore warn you ...) but I think you get the point. A bargain is great and I'm all for a bargain. But when quality is important it's always best to pay a little extra for something that's going to last you and bring as little drama as possible to your everyday life.

Sulphate free shampoo and conditioner

I swear by sulphate free products for human hair wigs. Especially good quality hair such as European Remy hair. These products are more readily available than you may realise. Boots sell a fab range called 97% Naked for around £4.50 which won't break the bank. Also remember that you're not going to be washing you human hair wig in a daily or every other day basis like you would do with natural hair. I wash my Follea Gripper wig once a week so you can imagine how long my shampoo and conditioner lasts. That is, of course, as ling as I hide them from my six year old who is currently going through a 'option' making phase at every bath / shower time.

It's no funny for mummy to grab a hold of my toothbrush before bed and start brushing my teeth only to realise that said six year old has been using MY purple toothbrush as a magical stirring stick for her bath potion!!!! Even worse was the fact that shed used daddies lynx shower gel as the main ingredient!!! Bloody kids ......

Good quality round brush

Ahhhhhh the dreaded round brush. Did anyone else 'borrow' their mums round brush as a kid and get it stuck in their hair? Perhaps it was just me who got myself into that tricky situation! A little education in using a round brush never hurts. Especially if your going to be using it on your beloved human hair wig or (gasp!) Follea hair wig. Never fear though as I've created a short video demo on how you can SAFELY use a round brush and popped it right here for you :-)
The round brush is a fabulous tool and a true essential. Blow drying straight, wavy and even creating curls in your human hair wig is all possible with your trusty round brush.

You can pick one up for around £4.99 from a beauty supply shop or boots / Primark / Tesco etc. you can pick them up pretty much anywhere these days.

Sectioning clips

The last essential item on my list. Good old Sectioning clips. Use these little gems to section off hair when your blow drying your human hair wig out.

Tip!

To create the perfect straight / wavy / curly blow dry just secure your human hair wig onto a Follea care head and work in small sections starting from the nape and working your way up. Remember to wait until the hair is 70% - 80% dry before you start to blow dry! Blow drying wet hair with a round brush is just a waste of your time and energy. Human hair won't start to hold a style until it's dry (or almost dry), heated and then allowed to cool for the style to set.
